🌍 World Day of Social Justice: Reproductive Freedom is Justice 💙
Reproductive Justice means more than access to healthcare—it’s the human right to have children, not have children, and to raise our families in safe, supportive communities. It’s about autonomy, equity, and dismantling the barriers that prevent people from making decisions about their bodies, lives, and futures.
On World Day of Social Justice, we recognise that true justice isn’t possible without reproductive freedom. Too many people—especially those in rural areas, those facing financial hardship, and those impacted by systemic discrimination—struggle to access abortion, contraception, and reproductive healthcare. Until everyone has the power to make choices about their reproductive lives free from coercion, stigma, and barriers, our work is not done.
At MSI Australia, we believe:
✔ Reproductive decisions belong to individuals—not politicians, systems, or stigma.
✔ Access to abortion and contraception is essential for gender equality and economic justice.
✔ Everyone deserves to parent—or not—on their own terms, in safe and supportive environments.
Justice, dignity, and freedom start with bodily autonomy. Because when people control their reproductive lives, they control their futures.

Recently, US President Donald Trump reinstated the `𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐆𝐚𝐠 𝐑𝐮𝐥𝐞’ (also known as the Mexico City policy), a policy that defunds or disallows funding to organisations that recommend, advocate for, provide, or even refer to abortion.
Many people have asked us how changes in the US may impact our services at MSI Australia. We want to reassure the Australian community that abortion and contraception services provided by MSI in Australia will 𝐧𝐨𝐭 be affected by the change in US policy. Access to safe, legal abortion and contraception at MSI Australia remains secure and uninterrupted.
While the Global Gag Rule does not directly impact our operations in Australia, there are very serious and significant impacts for MSI programs in other countries and we understand that it is worrying to hear about restrictions on sexual and reproductive health around the world.
The Global Gag Rule does have a significant negative impact on women and girls in many countries, limiting their access to essential services and creating a climate of fear and uncertainty.
We believe it`s important to be transparent about the Global Gag Rule and its implications. While our Australian services are secure, we recognise and are working to support the broader struggle for reproductive rights worldwide. We are committed to:
🔵 Advocating for policies that support access to sexual and reproductive health globally.
🔵 Raising awareness about the devastating consequences of policies like the Global Gag Rule, which undermine women`s health and rights around the world.
If you live in Australia, and want to join the global fight for reproductive rights, join MSI’s global #ChooseChoiceNow campaign and raise your voice for choice. You can learn more about the Global Gag Rule and its impacts from @msichoices at the link in our bio.
Thank you for being part of the MSI Australia community. We are here for you, and we are committed to protecting and expanding access to reproductive healthcare for all.

What happens before, during and after a vasectomy❓
➡️ Consultation and preparation: Before your appointment, you will have a consultation on the phone with a nurse "or doctor" to discuss your medical history and how to prepare for your procedure.
➡️ Local anaesthesia /IV Sedation: The doctor will either use local anaesthesia to numb the area or will administer IV sedation depending on your agreed chosen pain-relief.
➡️ No Scalpel Vasectomy procedure: The doctor will make a small opening in the skin of your scrotum to access your vas deferens and close the upper end. No external stitches are required for this method. The procedure takes about 20 to 30 minutes.
➡️ Post-procedure care and sperm tests: You’ll receive instructions on how to care for the area, manage pain, and avoid activities that could cause complications. You will also need to provide a semen test after 3 months to confirm that sperm are no longer present.

On Friday, Donald Trump pledged to uphold the so-called "historic gains" of the anti-abortion movement, threatening access to abortion services in the United States and globally.
Everyone deserves to access safe, vital reproductive healthcare, without fear of harassment. There is nothing honourable about physically blockading access to abortion care services.
At MSI, we refuse to be silenced. As a global provider of abortion care, we will never stop fighting for abortion rights. We will not back down.
Whilst this does not affect services in Australia, it will have a far-reaching impact on our global colleagues and clients once it is signed in by Trump.
We stand in solidarity with them against this systemic attack on reproductive rights.
Together we can build the world we want to live in 🌍✊

Sometimes, conversations with family or friends who don’t share your opinion on abortion can feel challenging.
👉 That’s where our myth-busting info pack comes in.
By talking about abortion accurately, we can show that abortion is normal, abortion is healthcare, and that everyone deserves the right to choose.
Together, we can change minds — and when we change minds, we can change society.

Abortion 👏 is 👏 not 👏 a 👏 dirty 👏 word.
The way we talk about abortion matters.
Sometimes we can stigmatise abortion unintentionally, by repeating harmful rhetoric, using inflammatory language, or just avoiding the word ‘abortion’ altogether.
The stigma that surrounds abortion feeds harmful myths and misconceptions which when internalised can negatively impact abortion laws, public health education, and women’s abortion experiences. Ultimately, it makes it harder to access safe abortion care and can even put those seeking abortions and abortion providers at risk of prosecution.
But abortion is not shameful. Nearly one in three pregnancies end in abortion worldwide. It is a safe, common, and much-needed healthcare service that allows individuals to take control of their bodies and futures.
Help us to end abortion stigma. A shift in language and culture can help end unsafe abortion, save lives, and help communities become more informed, autonomous, and empowered.
